Parsha Pizza: Terumah

Okay, no parsha cake (well, not yet, but I am contemplating parsha cookies). Instead we made something savory inspired by the parsha: menorah pizza.

This is easy and fun to make with kids. I have been finding that I don’t really need a pizza recipe to make pizza. I just dump 2 cups of flour (not even a measuring cup, but a drinking cup) and add 1 heaping tsp. of yeast, 1/2 tsp. salt, and a cup of water. Mix the ingredients to make a shaggy dough and then mush the dough around a little in the bowl (the dough will be quite sticky, too sticky to knead regularly, and it will stick horribly to your hands), then coat the dough with a drizzle of olive oil (1-2 Tbl., maybe). This makes the dough not so sticky. Shape the dough into a ball and let it rise for a little bit (anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour or maybe even longer, certainly longer if you refrigerate it). That’s it. A small amount of dough to make a couple of small pizzas.

We also tried using cookie cutters to cut out shapes: menorahs, cherubim, plus other shapes that just appealed to my kids. These got eaten up immediately, hence no pictures.

Parsha Pretzel? There really should be seven branches, not nine
