Tamari Sesame Swiss Chard

I made this Asian flavored recipe for Swiss Chard to accompany the Lime Ginger Yams.

Tamari Sesame Swiss Chard
Adapted from Deborah Madison’s Vegetable Literacy.

2 bunches Swiss Chard, de-stemmed and cut into thin ribbons
1 Tbl. oil
1/3 cup minced red onion (or shallot)
1 tsp. toasted sesame oil
1 tsp. tamari or soy sauce
2 tsp. sesame seeds, toasted in a dry pan until golden

Saute the onion in oil in a large skillet. Add the swiss chard and toss in the pan until the Swiss chard wilts and becomes tender, about 5 minutes. Toss the the Swiss chard with the sesame oil, sesame seeds, tamari and salt to taste.

Bonus: for a similar recipe that uses garlic and ginger instead of shallots, plus a splash of orange juice, take a look at Oh My Veggies Sesame Citrus Kale.
