Wordless Wednesday: Too Good For Words Banoffee Pie

Banoffee Pie: cookie crumb crust, caramel (or store bought dulce de leche), banana slices (from 3 bananas), more caramel (as much or little as you like), coffee whipped cream (pint of cream with coffee powder), more caramel (plus grated chocolate to be added later).

This recipe is so easy, you really don’t need much words to explain it. Here is a another photo essay of banoffee pie, plus Jim Lahey’s version of banoffee pie from his restaurant (crushed toasted hazelnuts on top and-gasp!-he skips the caramel sauce) and Jamie Oliver’s healthier version from his latest cookbook (instead of a can of ducle de leche, he uses two bananas pulverized with 7 Tbl. milk, mixed into caramel made with a heaping 1/4 cup of sugar).

This can be frozen and sliced/eaten straight from the freezer. It is like coffee banana caramel ice cream pie. You can use a round foil pan instead of a pie plate for your homemade crust (if you aren’t using a premade one).
